I recently made the move from South Africa to Dubai to pursue a career in marketing. With five years of experience as a freelance writer and media correspondent for global media publications such as Al Jazeera, Afropunk, and the Huffington Post, I was ready for a new challenge and saw Dubai as the perfect place to grow my career.
Dubai has been a hub for business and finance for several years now, attracting professionals from all over the world. The city’s strategic location, excellent infrastructure, and tax-free environment have made it a popular destination for individuals looking to grow their careers in the Middle East. Dubai is a melting pot of cultures and ideas, making it an ideal location for progress.
The potential for growth in digital marketing in the Middle East is enormous, with the region’s digital advertising spend expected to reach $9.9 billion by 2023. Dubai is at the forefront of this growth, with several companies investing heavily in digital marketing strategies. This provides ample opportunities for professionals looking to build a career in this field.
For me, a media correspondent turned digital marketer, the move to Dubai was driven by a desire to be part of this growth and innovation. With a wealth of experience in content creation and digital media, I saw an opportunity to apply my skills in a new context and contribute to the region’s marketing landscape.
